They do look worse than they are, the main bodies are still in pretty good condition.

Just be getting a rub down and painted.

Anyone know the best paint to use? Was looking at the hammerite smooth stuff as its just one coat instead of all this primer, paint, topcoat stuff.

Yeah I used the Hammerite straight to rust stuff, smooth as well, on the set of OEM shocks on the silver 4th. They've been sat for over a year now, so the worst thing really, so I'll see if I can get a pic of them as they are now tomorrow if you like?

Interested to see how these turn out.
The konis on the s2000 need painted and yellow hammerite was going to be my choice too.

Use some zinc primer under the hammerite smooth, I've found it does not quite offer the rust protection needed on it's own.

Sprayed or brushed hammerite smooth? What's the verdict on that one?

For anything where aesthetics is not too much of a concern, I'd go with brush on; it leaves a thicker film of paint, especially on the edges and will fill pitting marks better.

Type-s/a8 intake

Post by newkid » Fri Jun 13, 2014 1:11 pm

Still not got round to doing the shocks but did get an email from a the local scrapyard as had a car on my watch list, went from a full breaker to a parts breaker so up I went to check it out.

Managed to pick this up for £12, yes £12, has a few scrapes etc but for the price I'm certainly not complaining.

Type-s/a8 intake 8-)

Car does have full UK fogs and front heated seats and some sort of lowering but it was to wet to hang around so im planning another trip up as fancy the fogs
