Great job on the seats

The excene bit on mine looked exactly the same as yours and after a bit of treatment with the sandpaper they now look spanking again  thanks for posting the tip :D

Wind deflectors look awesome

I removed my remaining passenger one as I was convinced that it was gonna take me months to track another drivers one down. I think after the 3rd set, im just not meant to have them haha

Performance Autoworks and the lude.

Post by honda-hardy » Wed Aug 27, 2014 12:14 pm

For those who dont know, i have bought james's ( @lewd lude lover ) old engine gearbox and atts units from him.
i initially intended on having my engine rebuilt but the offer from james was to good to be true.

so the car is at @performanceautoworksand the engine gearbox and atts units are out. i then get this message from rich.

"Basically, engine and gearbox are out all in one lump. In the process of removing your ATTS unit and gearbox ready to swap over to the new engine I came accross a problem with your gearbox.
Whoever had the gearbox out last has damaged it where the rear engine mount bolts up to it. initially I thought that they had just not tightened the bolts properly (one was missing) but once the mount was off it became clear that they have actually broken the casing around the bolt threads!!!
I've seen this before where people have used the wrong length bolts or tried levering the gearbox off without removing these bolts.
There is quite a lot of oil around the area and the car also left a small puddle where it was parked so I suspect the crack is clear through the casing as well.
The upshot is, I wouldn't recommend using your gearbox for the swap"

so as luck would have it i needed to buy a new gearbox anyway. rich will be sending me some pictures of the damage at some point so i can update this thread.

so the cowboys who fitted the lightened flywheel and clutch in my lude for a previous owner broke the gearbox.
im keeping the lightened flywheel and so its new clutch time too.

but on a negitive side with the new engine and loom most of the loom is damaged and not useable so more labour costs for the swap. oh well. win some, loose some.

This is another one of the reasons why PAW are good though, most other garages wouldn't even bother telling you this stuff, they'd just get the job out and get paid!.
At least with the guys you get that attention to detail that you want when it's your pride and joy. :)

I take it you'll still be taking the old gearbox back as a spare, regardless?
