Re: BB4 Wings West Front Bumper Milano Red

Post by vanzep » Thu Jun 25, 2015 10:08 pm

laquer has dried so managed to squeeze the bumper into the lude and got it back home undamaged :)
fitted it up with facelift front indicators, reflectors and nostrils.

I could do with finding another jdm plate holder as the one ive got on the bumper at the mo is screwed, glued and bolted on
i do have an old ukdm number plate so i guess i could fit that for the time being :?

pic also show drivers door which should be going on the car sometime soon - will need to swap over the door loom which could be a bit of hassle.....

How many rattle cans Nick?! Very neat job!

Don't panic, it's actually very simple. :) If you think about it, you're just 'unthreading' it from one door and into the other.
I just pulled it through and left it all in the door, then got the door bolted up and re clipped/connected the loom.

3 cans topcoat for the skirts
and
6.5 cans topcoat for the bumper
I reckon only 50% of the paint went on the parts themselves

Ive been dreading adding up how much it has cost me to refurb the wings west kit so far :?

sideskirts - fibreglass patch repairs in two places on each skirt, 1x300ml can of plastic primer, 3x300ml can of red, 3m bodywork tape. 2 sheets of wet&dry.
cost approx £35
front bumper - plastic bumper repair filler, 1x500ml primer, 1x300ml plastic primer, 6.5x300ml can of red, 2 sheets wet&dry.
cost approx £60

the pitting and flaking on the parts was very bad - looked like they had been bead blasted so needed quite a few layers of primer and paint ;)

Thanks for the good feedback :)

Great work there!
maybe get a plate tilter bracket like on mine?
its bolts underside of the bumper so you dont get any nasty looking holes.
And can always remove it for shows etc? They're only like 10-15 quid on ebay

cheers mart :)
ive changed my mind and wanting to go with a UKDM plate holder(if i can find one) which i plan to respray milano red to blend it in :o

The cars is away for its MOT :scaredtoss: :scaredtoss:

got a a few nice upgrades to put on once i get it back:

front bumper and ww rs lip
whiteline rear arb and new drop links
pagid front discs and red stuff pads
megan toe arms (if they can be repaired-new rose joints needed and adjustment bolts to be freed off)
new drivers door

on a positive note i fitted new rear speakers and theyre brilliant - nice to have some sounds back in the car to drown out the rattles from the exhaust and heatshields
i think the kenwood speakers i fitted came from @indigolemons old lude.
