You really should be reverse parking.

It's in my living room currently  the weather has been awful down this way so I haven't fancied getting under the car. Once it's on I'll get a vid up

Did your living room get any louder?

Briefly, it was filled with a woman's voice shouting about car parts in the house. If the car is half as loud as that was then I'll be pleased

Sorted out another unimportant job today! All the speakers in this car are farked, so I've set about replacing them. This evening I've replaced the rears as they are the easiest to access. Annoyingly although I ordered speakers the same size as OEM, the chassis of the speaker was slightly larger so the OEM holder wouldn't take the speaker properly. So the next course of action would be add a speaker ring, but this would mean I couldn't use the OEM speaker covers and I'm kind of anal about stuff like that  So instead I got out some small metal files I had in my model making kit and I cut notches in the metal speaker ring that the speaker was to fit into. It was a bit of a ball ache, but once done it was fitting nice and flush:

And then the moment of truth :?

Happy days 8-)

For anyone interested these speakers are from a brand called Bass Face. From what I've read they're a bit of a no-namer, but they have been getting good reviews on the whole. They're reasonably priced, and compared to speakers of the same price (budget  ) they appear to look good on paper in terms of performance. Sooooo, I've decided that this car is going to be my test bed for their kit as I've never used it before. I will be getting a set of 2 way speakers from them for my doors, and then also a suitable amp from them. I feel a bit geeky for saying it but I'm genuinely interested in finding out how these perform once set up

Nice job :) My rear speakers are only just smaller than the cut out in the parcel shelf and thus I couldn't fit covers either (not that my car came with any  ) So I intend to get some rings made up to cover the gap eventually. The gap isn't obvious, so this has been the first time I've remembered, so thanks :D

I aim to please

If it wasn't for the covers being there though I would've gone for some carpeted rings and larger speakers. Tbh the original speaker size is absolutely piddly on the 2nd gen, and the door speakers are even smaller!

What did you put in the back of yours out of interest?? I put mid bass drivers in the rear as I'm thinking that the small speakers in the front aren't going to be up to much on the lower frequencies. Even with the stock radio though it's kind of cocked up the sound stage, the rear sounds more prominent now and fading to the front just causes distortion from the mouldy OEM door speakers... I'm kind of hoping new speakers up front will fix this! Otherwise I might end up with no speakers on the rear shelf at all

I can't remember to be honest. I like my music, but I'm not at all a sound and entertainment guy. I think they're just Fly, but I couldn't say what ones. Only cheap either way, but they hold their own ok :)
