It was a bit grubby before...

What did you use to clean it with?

I used both spray on Gunk and Jizer on my UKDM last weekend, had mixed results with the Gunk tbh, had good results withe Jizer when the engine was a bit warm and I agitated it with a paint brush.

It sure is satisfying but where does it end lol,

Yea using gunk man, it takes a few applications, leaving a 10 mins between each application, I used a paint brush to get it soaked in, when your happy with the cleaning I then find when it's dried fully it shows the best results, as any hard to reach places are basically dust and the dirt brushes right off.

So started work on the arches this is the only real rust I found just surface rust, passenger side:


Drivers side:


So I dropped out the suspension and subframe:



Here's the arches before I set to work:


I took care of all the rust in the arches and wire brush all the dirt out and wiped them down a few times and through a few coats of stonechip:



Then a through a few coats of paint on over the stone chip:


Passenger side:


I've then put underseal on top of the paint as a final protection layer, I think it will truly be rust free for a very long time to come.

Oh and got a zerg racing thermal intake gasket for the skunk2 intake. I'm also bypassing the coolant lines to the throttle body and mani.


Oh and she's got a home its big!! Should get it up there in the next couple of days, I've the engine bay stripped and everything I need now to spray it in 2k paint.

Whats best stuff for cleaning and degreasing car parts before painting then as im looking to paint all my calipers and carriers and few other parts

Well there's a few options, chances are there going to be a bit rusty so you want to take care of the rust first, that takes alot of time and effort, there's many products out there or just the old fashioned way with sand paper lol

You can use petrol or engine degreasers to wipe of grease, but I find just using a wire brush and sanding the part for paint removes any dirt and old cracked paint.,

If you go as far as bare metal make sure you use and etch primer, then paint then lacquer.
