 Maybe i should let you guys know she was quite aggressive when i spoke to her and said she had contacted the police about the note i left on her car as she "thought it was some kind of joke" she then went on to say she had damage done to her car recently and had nails in the tyres etc etc. I had anticipated a denial but not quite to this extent but i told her i wasnt interested in talking about that  Abviously a crock of jobby.... :|

getting the lude ready for winter conditions

brakes - fixed - new mc working well and pedal is as firm as it should be :)

conti winter and oem wheels back on - this was earlier than anticipated but a punture in the passenger side front meant it was as good a time as any to change both fronts over :) so ive oem wheels with contis on the front and piaa nakajimas with rainsport 3's on the back for the time being. I will swap the rear piaas over before they start gritting the roads

wanted to get my cornering lights fitted but turns out im missing a couple of the small sections of loom at either end so thats a no go at the moment

dug out my old mugen sideskirts - im thinking of selling them :?
weighed them just out of curiosity  the sides are 800g and the support bar is 700g - so thats 1.5 kilos as side. :ugeek:

Re: BB4 rear brakes/handbrake

Post by vanzep » Wed Dec 03, 2014 2:44 pm

Well the mugen sideskirts went to a new home :?
so money was spent on new rear discs and pads and a new clevis pin and clip for the handbrake.
Pagid rear discs and OEM pads.
The discs were a bargain at £8.99each and the OEM pads were £27.50 plus vat.
Rear pad part number 43022-SV4-A03 was told that now supercedes 43022-SL5-525.
I got these parts fitted and the handbrake properly adjusted for the first time in a decade.

When i got my MOT earlier this year i could see from the brake test report that the handbrake wasnt working properly on one side so i removed the centre console and got it adjusted properly .
no more creaky handbrake 8-)
It just shows you how many garages dont do this simple adjustment after carrying out arear brake service. I even went to the expense of having one of the cable replaced as i was advised it needed replaced in order to get handbrake thru mot. Looking back on it i doubt that was needed so i wont be making that mistake again :)

Also got some pagid front discs to fit and just need to order up some oem pads.

Brakes are as good as they were when i bought the car so its a good result :)

cheers @Drax gotta say the rear discs are very good - I like the fact they are coated so shouldnt rust up round the edges. Prices have gone way up since buying them so was just lucky.
getting the brakes fixed is money well spent ;)

as you know i have aquired a modified ATR intake manifold and TB so now im thinking about cams, P28 with hondata S300 and a tune. its going to cost a bit but im still deciding if i want to make any changes right now
I will be keeping an eye on your build thread :)

Re: BB4 Black Friday

Not a good day for the lude with suspect driveshaft failure
No untoward noise or warning and then sever wobble at about 70mph and kickback through the steering
Initially i thought it was a blow out on one of the front tyres and it did sound like that as well with a sort of whump, whump like sound :)
I pulled over and checked things over - couldnt find anything wrong, so drove on a bit but obviously something was broken - steering was twitchy to say the least....
so i crawled to the nearest garage - had it up on the ramps with wheels spinning in gear and there is a noticeable wobble on the passenger side wheel yet the driveshaft doesnt feel too bad
dug out a couple of rusty old spares and bits and took them along to be fitted on Monday- lets hope they do the trick :?
