Re: My 2.2 vti 5th Gen *Updated (Wheels/Engine bay pg 4)*
Thanks guys.
Lots of work going into it at the moment!
The CF cooling plate was just a flat 4 ply carbon plate I had laying around that was made up on one of my courses. It was headed for the bin when inspiration struck!! Cut 3 sections out of it and riveted them to the grille. They were vac bagged 200 deg cure wet layup iirc.
The other part of the plate is being made into a show plate. Gloss CF 4 ply plate with a white decal over the top with the lettering cut out so the CF shows through Trial run looked awesome
I will get some pics for you.

A1ex, I will PM you some details in the next few days.
If you can sort hot cure out, even with a heatlamp, then there are plenty of suppliers who are chucking away out of life PrePregs - might be worth you asking them
They are life expired but are still fine for another 100 or so hours at room temp if you keep them frozen between time.
The other good source is aircraft dismantlers. They very often have loads of panels left over and they just want rid of them. If you want carbon fibre panels without having to make them then its perfect. Just imagine how many cooling plates you could make out of an airbus A320 rudder!! I was offered one the other week, it was cut into about 6 sections and they just wanted rid of it. The whole thing is basically flat carbon plate with some internal structure. It was about 20ft long and 6 ft wide!

Well you've ruined it now, if A1ex suddenly gets large bits of CF for nothing/cheap-as-chips then everyone will be wanting free/cheap-as-chips parts
Also dunno if it's my screen/eyes but those wheels look like a dark champagne colour

*EDIT: Not champagne but a colour of something with a name like that, I think.

Still gotta get the paint off them and polish them up which is harder than it sounds
I know someone who has an Airbus A340 spoiler panel, unpainted CF, as a shed door!! Cost new is about $140,000
