i've had similar on both ludes. It causes a clonk noise when lifting up the clutch (in any gear). I can only attribute it to play in the differential. Confirmed by jacking car up, and then lying in the middle underneath the car, use both hands to gentle turn both wheels at the same time forward and backward. You can then hear exactly the same clonk noise, its very distinctively muffled like its inside something (eg gearbox). This also confirms why there is a small amount of kangarooing when modulating speed in car parks / low speed scenarios.
whilst underneath you can also check that its not the CV joints as you can grab them and turn the wheels in turn, you will feel any play (i had none). I ruled out driveshaft bearing thing, as no play perceived, and the fact the noise doesn't come from there. I could hear clearly it was coming from the center of the gearbox casing, and was occurring even with only a few degrees rotation of the road wheels (eg, the noise comes from slack in the diff, before the gearbox innards started to rotate).
the noise got a bit worse over 4 years, but never really got any worse feel wise, only noticeable at low speeds. gearbox oil made no difference (except making gear changes nicer).
It started after coasting down from very high revs / loading up the gearbox with high engine braking.
