That can only be a good thing :)

I did consider this "Mugen" style front lip as it looks very neat.

gave it a quick wash to get rid of the salt and took the opportunity to get a few pics with new lip and indicators

front end storm damage

Post by vanzep » Sat Jan 14, 2017 3:20 pm

unfortunately the lude took a bit of a battering in the storm earlier in the week...
the passenger side front wing, bumper and lip took a fairly big hit from a wheelie bin by the looks of it :?
bit annoying a id only finished fitting the new ukdm front lip and front amber indicators a few days earlier.
i think i will need to replace the front wing as it has been pushed in at the tip and has a slight buckle on the arch - that along with some scratches means i probably best start looking for replacement part if i want to keep it looking in top condition.
For the time being ive pulled the wing out, reshaped and touch up painted it so its not really that noticeable :)

ive had to sell the bc racing coilovers i was going to fit in order to balance the books and keep ontop of the cost of running two ludes :|

You don't seem to have much luck with your cars getting bashed

Atleast it's not near the rear arches again.still a right pain!

Those coilovers were looking awesome aswell :(

1991 4TH Gen JDM Si Vtec

Post by vanzep » Tue Jan 17, 2017 11:34 am

Yep its a bit of hazard keeping two ludes out on the street - its a permit zone as well so i have to park the BB1 about half a mile away so cant keep an eye on it.
The BB1 is such a rare car it really should be on driveway or kept in a garage. :?

Yeah its sad to see the bc coilovers go but i dont really need a spare suspension set up at the moment as the BB4 has koni/eibachs and the BB1 has standard set up which is good enough. :)

Did you solve the idle bounce problem? Does this car have a air boost valve?

Yep bouncing idle problem was sorted and idle is steady but once warmed up if you put a tiny bit of pressure and i mean a tiny amount of pressure on the pedal it will bounce from idle to 1500rpm put a tiny bit more pressure on it and it goes away. Ive got to say though only someone like me would notice this  In general the bouncing idle was sorted by fitting a new throttle body with reset FITV body and using a big syringe to fill up the FITV and hoses to it and then bleeding the coolant.

The car does have an air boost valve (intake manifold on passenger side). I had looked at into this as being a possible culprit for difficult starting from cold (2-4 cranks) but its difficult to start the car and check the valve at the same time. I still havent ruled it out but would need some help to check its operation from cold. Ive sort of moved on from that and leaned towards it being a fuel supply issue (pump or regulator). Im still unsure of this but have all the parts needed to replace anything thats needed.

All that said the car runs very nicely with plenty power but it does bug me that it doesnt start on first crank like my BB4.

A couple of pics from the other week

actually ive got to admit thats absolute rubbish what i said in the post above about there being a slight bounce on the idle :x

id forgotten id fitted a lightweight flywheel to the lude a few months ago when i did the clutch I also normally wear work boots.........you can see where im going with this

there is the cold start issue so im up for looking at the air boost&air-bypass valve before i move on to the fuel pump and pressure regulator:)
