Yeah, surely if the oil pump is noisy enough to be heard, oil pressure would be low enough to put the oil light on; noise=wear=larger gap between components=oil being squeezed out of the pump at significantly reduced pressure...

Yea i thought that. As there is no bearings in the pump i don't think? I'm just panicking as all ive had is problems with it up to now. I will be taking the rocker cover off tomorrow after work now as if the belt is loose, i don't wana be driving it like it :?

Keep the faith and don't lose hope with it. Will be worth the grief once it's sorted. Fingers crossed it is just the belt.

Guys. I have asked this before but is there anyone that have kept balancer shafts in but removed the belt. I have found the cause of the noise and the front balancer shaft is moving in and out by around 5-10mm causing this noise. I should stop it if i run it without the balancer belt. From what i can see in the manual the shaft has thrust washers and my guess is they have worn out!! Going to change the oil too.

:think:
Is it the balancer shaft that has the Honda 'oil seal retainer' mod, or was that something else?
If so, is this fitted on yours @thebusofwoe ?

EDIT:
Yes it is the balancer shaft that has the retainer mod...

Loose shaft;

Thanks matey. I have removed the belt now and left the shafts in there. Runs sweet, and no more noises. :D 8-) :rock:

:shock: :shock: My shaft doesn't move that much :lol:
I have never seen this mod or heard of it!! Is it to retain the seal or the shaft?, as the shaft end float is controlled by thrust washers I think :think:. Tbh if it's happy without running the shafts I won't bother reconnecting them :twisted:

The bracket is there to hold the seal, which has a habit of popping off after a belt change.
