Will have to think ahead ...
Apart from the engine vibration - it would be a shame to rid of it just coz of 2 holes.

The rust can be slowed down with the de-rusting / rust-proofing.
But as long as Luke stays as DAILY car, then it will get worse

I will see if I can swop Luke back as summer car (as originally planned) -
That means it will delay the rust and also save up for major welding of both rear arches...

Back to rear spoiler brake light not working...

Remove 2 screws,
Push light out

Bummer on the rust and the rear spoiler brake light.
When you reassemble the aerial, don't forget to re-grease all the insides (the moving gear parts and where the teeth flexi coils up)

I have given up on the aerial.
Its a potential for rain water leaks (considering the rust on Luke now) - either from aerial or from within motor -
There is actually TWO water outlets from the motor:
1. Attached to tube and carried outside car
2. One at bottom, just drips into boot

Would have kept it if got the darn replacement mast working.

In order NOT to introduce potential rain water into the boot:
1. Not fit aerial/motor back in
2. Stick a rubber grommet in it for now (aerial hole)
3. Will decide when decision on welding is made

I know it's hard when you find stuff like this, but try not to feel too defeated.

Not installing the aerial there would just mean (assuming you still want to listen to the radio) that you'd need to drill a hole somewhere else in the bodywork in order to install an ugly non-retracting aerial?

Bear in mind that's 30 years worth of water leaking and rust... If you get the hole welded up and properly rust protected, after making sure that the drain tubes are now clear, another 30 years would see the car outlast you.

Aerial not important - always prefer to listen to MP3s
But would have been nice to keep Luke original and have aerial working.
Did think about splashing another £20 on a brand new after market electric aerial with motor - but after so much work on the original motor its a shame to not use it. But with no other eBay replacement mast specifying exact diameter size (and the one I brought was a bit flimsy anyway) - not sure if I will ever get the original working again

As long as the engine is solid (will need to video the sound for u to listen to again, and the cold start vibration is fixed) - then only the rust to consider.
All other issues are minor and part of owning a classic car

Will have to put Luke on hold ref the undersealing with Dinitrol during Easter 2015. Though the person doing undersealing also a qualified welder - I wonder if he can weld the arches as well - but then re-spray on top too

Will see what lays ahead and what pot of money I have ...
