Rain-X with Glass cleaner was rubbish!

So trying this:
1. Rain-X with Glass Cleaner
2. IPA
3. AngelWax H2GO

Well done wayne, hope the refitting of the door cards went well, no grazed knuckles I hope. one quick question, I'm not sure why you've not put the outer speaker grills / mesh back on? Is there an issue with clearance due to the new , slightly bigger speakers?

Hi Mike

The grills needs to be screwed from inside door card.

I want to try to ensure i can replace speakers in future without removing door card.

So for now, its clip and sealant the grille back on.
In future, maybe enlarge the whole?

Just a thougt ...

Mmmm, you probably will never need to replace them again, should last 10+ years normally, unless you plan to experiment with the speaker types / sizes themselves. Id've replaced outer grilles on refitment, myself. Sounds like the 'card removal/ refitment went well, non the less.

Yes
It was a MIRACLE it went well!

Normally something DIFFERENT will crop up
Or i break something and that means the door card will be off permanently - lol

H2GO
Amazing stuff!
No need to use wipers this morning at all!

Side windows good comparison:
Front H2GO
Rear nothing
Both covered with overnight rain, but front just beaded away when driving :-)

Hi @Wayne2014 Firstly ta for your kind words t'other day on the LOTM post. Unfortunately it was locked so I didn't get a chance to say thanks to you. I'm sure your Red Beauty will be in with a shout again very soon. ;)
Secondly, like you, I have been very disappointed with Rain-X. I thought I have not been applying it correctly or maybe it was something to do with temperature and humidity out here so it was interesting to read what you'd said. I stick to my Meguiar's window cleaner (horrendously expensive over here) and it works a treat. Mind you, that H2GO stuff looks great. Where did you buy it from Wayne as I'd like to get a couple of bottles while I'm back home and try it for myself.

No worries, Simon :-)

Ref Rain-X - the original Rain-X supposed to be quite good based on online reviews (i never used it myself).
In fact, american reviews say its inflammable too - eeeek!

What i got is Rain-X "with glass cleaner" - where online reviews is actually NOT very good. As well as I used it now and its so rubbish i just used it as a glass cleaner, then topped up with a proper sealant/rain-repellant such as H2GO.

I got H2GO direct from them at:
http://www.angelwax.co.uk/?wpsc-product ... -repellent

Its only £6/100ml but there is postage on top :-(
If i get more (before u visit) i ll get u a bottle too (to save u postage :-)

There are rave reviews of H2GO purely of the cheaper cost (compared with Techniq G1 / G5) and the amazing rain repellant qualities.

G1 last about 1-2 years (officially) but u only get 15ml
H2GO last 2-3 months but u get 100ml - it may cost about the same over 2 years - but H2GO a breeze to put on and buff off too :-)

I think the key is preparation.
So ensure u clean glass proper before applying any rain repellant.

I usually:
1. Clean glass
2. Clay
3. Ipa
4. The rain repellant

But in future, i might get away with:
1. £1-2 Supermarket glass cleaner with vinegar
2. H2GO (2 layers) - and top up whenever require

Hope that helps, Simon :-)
