Re: Ash's GT39 1/2
Ok, so its been a year and some major updates.
Before having the cage fitted it weighed in at 1135k, then with the car interior stripped, sunroof removed, wing mirrors changed and cage fitted I re-weighed the car - 1138k. WTF I knew cages were about 35k but I thought i'd covered alot of that with just the sunroof. So some work to do on weight loss then.
I managed to purchase a p28 with S300 installed, some ATR camshafts and booked a slot with Rich at PAW. What a great chap and service. He managed to set the car up with its new bits and get 236hp out of it.

He said the car was being restricted by its exhaust design and with a slight modification should be able to get around 6-7 more hp.
I had a chat with Pete (106pete) and he was able to fabricate a revised downpipe section to suit Rich's advice.
Now onto stripping the car.
First were the doors - 11k per side to be found here. Then install poly carb windows, I had a go at making these myself but couldn't get the curve of the door and gave up.

Then remove the heater matrix and replace with an inline fan for demisting.

Still weighing in too much???
The boot has a fair amount of weight to loose, not only the lid but the hinges, parcel shelf, wheel arch inners, boot lock ect.

Check weight.....

Ok not looking too bad now. Future losses to be had on wheels reduce to 16", fly wheel and carbon bonnet. With a bit of luck that should bring me down to around 1050 mark.
Next on the list this winter is ATR gearbox, Atr front calipers, 300mm discs, paddle clutch and lightweight flywheel, coil-overs and lightweight wheels. I've got the box and calipers just need to find the cash for the other bits now.

I was going to try and find a carbon one. How about Dec at Combe?106pete wrote:Another nice collection of bits to fit mate, it's gonna get close if we ever get on track at the same time. Both around the same weight and exactly the same power lol.
Think I'm gonna have ago a stripping the boot and doors, have you done the bonnet skin yet?

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
