Calipers, discs and pads

All,

Driving my Lude, I've recently experienced severe 'shuddering' on the wheel and around the chassis generally after breaking. Dabbing the brakes again and the issue goes away.

My garage (it is sound) has had the car in today to check it out. They've said it needs two front calipers, and new front discs and pads. The calipers are sticking, hence the shuddering and the discs are warped. I've seen it for myself. Not good.

The garage have shopped around and have found the following prices for the parts:

* Calipers - £220 each
* Discs and pads - £184 for both

Do any of you know where I can get the parts any cheaper? Second hand would be fine.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

David

Eurocarparts for basic disks and pads ;) probably the cheapest, yet reasonable stuff you can buy.

there are usually plenty of people with 282mm lude callipers for sale around :)

Biggred.co.uk sell caliper rebuild kits for not very much money and there is a how-to for servicing them on here as well. It's something you could do at home. Might be the cheapest option unless you get some off a breaker..

i got my pagid front discs from eurocarparts and im sure they do pagid brake pads as well - a whole set should cost you about £80-100 or you can buy brembo discs and pads from ebay or most motor factors. Both are good quality.
If you want you can buy the pads from Honda at around £45-65

Reconditioned calipers are your best bet and should cost about £60 - £90 each some companies charge you a higher price and then refund you £25-£35 per caliper when you send your old ones to them.

Hi David,

Was the vibration at all speeds and where the wheels hot after driving?

Others on here have said brembo discs and pads but I have not had a great experience with them. I am going to go original honda next time.

They'll all be refurbed calipers anyway, rather than new.
Try brakesinternational for the calipers.
Also try rockauto for the lot?

I have a full front Accord type R 300mm setup up for grabs.
You'd just need the discs re drilled to 4x114.3.
