Wanted - manual loom for 5g which goes from ecu in to engine

Post by mr_pea » Fri Oct 17, 2014 2:25 pm

As above please.
Got the ecu and the manual engine loom part, but need the loom and plugs which go from the ecu to the engine bay.
Thank you, Toby

I think that you can keep and re-use all of the old auto loom...
Just leave the auto box connectors unplugged at the gearbox end (no choice anyway! )
You might need to extend the reverse light switch wires (not sure if it's the same as on a 3rd gen, where on an auto the reverse light switch is on the gear shifter, while on a manual it's on the gearbox).
I'm pretty sure that's what @sir si did when he converted his - I definitely remember there being a load of spare connectors lying on top of the manual box and I asked him what they were and he said they were the old auto box connectors that were no longer used.

As above, I still have the auto loom in my car which is a manual, I've now snipped the spare connectors and hidden them in the loom. Also, I kept one of the spare wires free, spliced the gearbox's reverse switch into it, then connected the other end (which terminated at the ECU connector) to the reverse light. Therefore, no additional engine bay wiring required. 8-)

Probably going to sound really dumb with this, but should I just use all the existing wiring that I have (leaving the extra gearbox ones unplugged) and use the manual ecu plugged in to the existing loom?
