phone harassment

my wife has had 2 sexually harassing texts from an unknown number today, is there any way of finding out who sent them or where the fuckers are?

I think the police is the only way, they can either track who ones the number or the imbe number and what other numbers are associated with it.
We had a guy in work threatening a girl on his phone but different sim card. It didn't take them long to find out.
