So it would seem that the bloke walking about Northampton dressed as a clown is being talked about in canada, australia and northern europe, that i know of.

What the drokk is wrong with the world? Are we that starved of input we find some old codger dressing up as a clown a talking point? Northampton? seriously? thats how you get on the international scene is it? slightly iffy locals scaring/waving at passers by 8-)

Well obviously it is a talking point or I wouldn't be typing this    :?

how long before he gets mugged and those pictures get posted up for all to see?

I can understand this being a local story, even making the nationals as a footnote but there are literally thousands of people across the planet fired up by this. How does this happen to a culture?

In Norwich there are these stupid drokking gorilla statues everywhere over the city, all painted kraze-e cullas. Yanks are mad for them apparently. Every time I go out guarantee I see people stopped taking pictures.

Anything not the beige of regular life is a talking point nowadays.

Totally agree LLL. Fact is people are starved of good news, only bad news sells so that's what the papers and channels give you. Don't get me wrong, Syria and every other conflict for that matter is bad and needs to be in the news, but they make a habit of trying to make the public fearful, in even the most mundane stories. The fear and uncertainty of everyday life has largely been taken away, and that's our biggest instinct - survival, so the news try to put it back.
I cant watch the news these days, it's just too much like Brass Eye and The Day Today, scarily so in fact.

Consequently, when something silly and light-hearted comes along, everyone jumps all over it and it goes viral...and then the media have to run it to appear 'with it'.

As a follow up: In my town alone I regularly see:

I dwarf street sweeper that was in Time Bandits and Labyrinth.

A dude that talks to imaginary figures, coughs REALLY loudly, 'break dances' (really badly) in the street, runs off at sprint pace, leaving all his belongings on a table, all while wearing big headphones. Oh and occasionally throws a mental and starts chucking bottles about.

A ....thing... that I believe to be male, about 70, that wears a leopard print skin tight dress of sorts, massive heels and a huge ginger wig - I swear I thought it was Bo Selecta being filmed the first time I saw it

A scouser dude that turns up by the clock tower, complete with shell suit and headphones on, and stands there dancing on the spot for hours...not for entertainment I might add.

To name but a few...

Maybe I should be filming all this for the good of the nation?

crazy dancer

I really think that all this global news fuels a lot of the bad behaviour in time before the tinterweb and global news stuff was in the papers after it had happened so it was all over by the time you heard about it now a local issue can become a global movement good In some instances really really bad in others

it gets to the point that people, like this clown, just want to be noticed. That can go to some pretty bad places when you start down that road.
