Space-saver-boot 4th genners, can you help...

Post by bennyboy » Wed May 01, 2013 11:41 am

I'm looking to do a bit of a boot overhaul on my pre-facelift, and lug less stuff around.
I would just empty it completely but I like the idea of a large flat area and understand the spacesaver comes up to the level of the sides, so you can just put the lining on top.

Sooo:

ANy post-facelift 4th genners have a photo of the boot setup please? Pref with ALL stuff in shot, i.e. any toolkit etc.

Also, anyone in the herts or surrounding area got a nice cheap spacesaver they want to sell? :D

Muchos Ta!

Yeah the space saver is the support (the outer side of the rim faces down). Most ludes I've had just have the rolled up tool kit and that's normally just dropped into the space saver (kind of wedged in to save it rattling around). But there was a plastic cased toolkit shaped similar to this available (this is a 3rd gen one) that sits in the recess to the right...

Nice one 8-)
I have a full toolkit already, just it's in the large polystyrene disc that sits in the oem wheel well.
If I could pick up just the plastic case....

So are you just missing the space saver?

I have one you can have, but it's getting it to you. Happy to send it for the cost of postage. Don't think it's ever been used.

Interesting. The whole lining is slightly different, as I have the large polystyrene inserts left and right.
Was kind of hoping I could ditch those and the oem wheel, stick the spacesaver in and put my boot lining back on top.
Would there be space around the spacesaver to cram the tools, in a tool wrap or similar?

Thanks chaps.
Yes! That's exactly what i have already, so will it fit in the spacesaver wheel, or is that a smaller one? :?

Nafe, that would be awesome, unless the LG courier service can help?? :?

I'm sure they're all the same size so it will fit in the spacesaver.
The spacesaver wheel is quite deep. It's the tyre size that makes the difference.
