Unpleasant Surprise

So, it's my usual evening - my girlfriend comes over after work, watch a bit of tv. Then I remembered I needed petrol. So we go and jump in my Golf, I'm just pulling out of my drive when I slam on the brakes. Look what some wanker did to my girlfriend's car

It looks even worse in the flesh. No insurance details left, nobody asked around who's car it was. Just smashed into it and drove off. It's not even a small dent, you'd know if you hit it as there'd be a jobby load of noise and the front end of your car would be drokked  rang the police and they're not interested, unsurprisingly. So all we can do is leave it, or pay out of our own pocket which is going to be absolutely crippling as we're just moving out for the first time :( we can't even consider claiming on insurance as we have a couple of other insurance policies and our premiums would be buggered if we got the insurance involved. I just can't believe people don't give a jobby about how much they can drokk somebody else's life up, so long as they can make their life easier. I know a fair few bodyshops around here though, so I've been putting the word out for them to keep an eye out for a red car with front end damage and traces of blue paint - I can't tell you how much I hope they show their wretched little face up.

All in all, jobby evening :(

I'm just gutted. We really don't need a bill like this right now, and it just makes it worse knowing that somewhere there's probably somebody pleased that they've gotten away with hitting another car :(

sucks big time stuff like that
believe it or not there are still a few people out there who will leave you a note and pay for any damage
i saw a girl put some damage on a car in my street - she stopped and wound down her window when she saw id seen her and said "you didnt see that did you" to which i replied "yes i did and i also saw you leaving a note accepting repsonsibilty for the damage youve done" - she wasnt very happy

Its not alll bad.
Try and find a Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) specialist or panel beater and get them to even out the panel as much as possible. It may help if you remove the arch lining and interior panels so access is easier from behind.
Once smoothed out easier it might be good for a smart repair. May need a fair amount of filler though.

Or a body shop and £250ish quid.

Cheers guys :) Haha Ammo, if it had happened to my lude I'd be outside jumping up and down still, I doubt I'd be in any state to post for at least a few days  thanks Ratty, I sent the photos to a mate who works at a garage, he wants me to bring the car in for a quote though. £250 is less than I was expecting so hopefully I'm just thinking worst case scenario and we'll get it fixed for a bit cheaper. Will be a chance to fix the scrape on the opposite end/corner too where my girlfriend got into an argument with a multistorey car park ramp and lost  Shame you're not closer as I've seen you work your magic on here :D at least I've got a couple of local body shops I can trust though.

If only it had been my Golf out there, she's surrounded by an inch of plastic in all directions, bumper car style!

It's disgraceful what people do these days and get away with. Whatever happened to chivalry?! I'd like to think I would hold my hands up in such a situation, but I've never been there yet (*touch wood).

Nor me thankfully! Although I have bumped my dad's 3 series a good few times whilst parking, but that's only ever for a giggle if he's watching out the window
