Insurance Recommendations?

Hi Folks,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a decent insurer for my BB4. Been quoted £2050 by Admiral for a multicar policy, which I didn't bat an eyelid at seeing as my Accord on it's own cost me £2100 when I got it a year or so ago. However, when I told them I wanted to pay monthly, they decided it was time to bend me over the desk :? They removed a 'discount' that they provide in their quotes on the assumption you'll pay in full, and also charge 8.5% interest for the credit facility. All in all would mean paying them £280 a month. Works out at £140 per car a month, which I guess isn't outrageous, and we can afford to pay if we absolutely have to, but ideally would like to pay less lol.

I'm 21 and so is my girlfriend btw, both held licences 4 years, no endorsements and I have a years NCB on the Golf so could cancel that policy to use it on the lude. So, are there any decent specialists out there we could qualify for? Or will I just have to let Admiral pull my trousers down and give me their worst

Cheers,
Josh

My brother got a credit card last time he did insurance as it worked out cheaper to pay the interest than have the insurers what their premium on. And I did a couple of months paying monthly and then saved enough to cancel it and pay outright in one go.

Yeah we were looking into a 0% card, rather pay that back than the insurer. Just hassle sorting it though, but I think it's the best bet.

Sucks being 21 :( had fairly powerful cars from when I passed my test up to the Golf, no accidents and no endorsements ever but they still can't see past a number. At this rate I'll have to crash a car just to make sure I'm getting my money's worth

That is shocking, why penalise someone twice for paying by Direct Debit?

It really annoys me at times that i am associated with an industry that tries this sort of crap on their customers.

Try the two insurers in the 'Insurers' section man. They both have club discount schemes - so make sure you tell them you're a member here!

^this.
Sky have got my business yet again, always been very good.
I know age is against you, but I'm pretty sure they specialise in this sort of scenario, ie decent/modded car/young driver so hopefully they can beat that.

Being a finance bod myself, the interest on credit pisses me off. As you always are paying for the next month your account is never in arrears which is where you would expect interest, but only if you exceeded your credit terms. I don't see how they can charge interest on a service they are yet to provide, even though you're paying in instalments. It only works one way as well, if I cancel my policy they will pro rats the amount of days left on my policy and pay me back some money, however I don't get to claim interest on money they've held for a service I never received. They get to do their own thing really :(

I did take a quick look! But they seem quite keen on you having owned and insured the car for a year and other boxes I can't tick :P I'll give them a ring tonight though, along with Chris Knott. If not, time to get a credit card :?

I think they may be fine if you mention you've been driving cars with similar engine sizes, assuming your Accord was a 2.0. They just don't want someone going 1.1 Saxo -> 3.0 Supra Turbo for example
