Prelude type s with snapped belt save or break?
Post by gmpreludeni » Mon Jun 05, 2017 1:46 pm
Been offered type s at good money going to lift later owner said timing belt has snapped.
is it worth saving cost wise I know my way around preludes but not enough to rebuild an engine so roughly what are the expected costs?
Or would it be better to break and keep some of the jdm bits for my uk car?

Million dollar question.
How much you getting it for vs how much damage has been done..........

Would Be a shame to break it.... what condition is the shell in? And the rest of the car...are there other issues.
how much would it cost to repair the car; "worst case scenario"?
We should try everything to try and save it..

This was exactly what i was thinking, its been said before but i wasn't sure whether to believe it.Craig_85 wrote:Is it correct that h22's are only interference engines whilst in vtec?
So in theory if the belt snapped whilst out of vtec then the pistons and valves should not have collided and the damage not too bad...

SAVE IT , i am one of those that has saved a lude with cambelt damage well turned out to be a seized water pump that stripped the teeth off the belt and in turn resulted in all the valves getting bent

success is the ability to go from one failure to the next without any loss of enthusiasm

Put a belt on it and see if it turns without issue!
