okay so the lude isnt very practical when you have a kid...what can i get that has 4 doors (or maybe just has plenty of room in the back) with a nice interior but has some power/is fun? at the minute im driving my dads 2006 focus around and while its nice to have the extra space its the most boring,slowest, crappy car ive ever driven!!
i dont wanna chav it up with the scooby crew (been there...twice

)
i dont want an evo because of the horrendous insurance
tempted by an accord but my mrs says its fugly and as she'll be going halfs on the initial purchase she needs to like it aswell....
any ideas?!
as for budget, probably around the 3k mark?

Mazda 6
I've got one, an estate, and the are great cars to drive, nice 150bhp ish from the 2 litre petrol, and the steering rack is the same one used in the MX-5 so is light and precise.
You're welcome to pop over and give it a blast.
...and for 3k you'll get a really nice condition 2005/6 model

If he's gonna do that may as well go for a Galant with a bombproof engine!!

To be fair, the KV6 is a pretty sweet engine. And are you going to find a Galant that age/spec for that kind of money?

Why not go for the traditional fast, sporty, family car. A Volvo 850 T5. Comfy as hell, great performance, very safe too which is always good for the kids, and you can get huge number of lude parts in the back of it too
I bought my old 850 T5 for £500, and most I've seen are going for £500 - £850, so it's hardly going to break the bank. Admittedly, majority are autos, but the auto box is brilliant on them, and with it being turbo'd, means that when you're pulling off, there's no turbo lag between gears

True, but he did say UPTO 3k. He could buy a galant V6 for £1500 and spend the rest on fuel and tax
