Lude Generation

Sooo...
For those of you who followed this thread, you would know that I was looking at buying a Rover 623 to use as an engine donor for my beloved but somewhat broken BB2 H23A2 (thanks for the top tip @4thgenphil).

Anyway, like a nutter, I bid on it and won - I now owned an old Rover 623 with 41,000 miles on the clock.. in Carlisle!

Anywho, yesterday I got on a train and headed off to go and pick it up and drive it back to Bournemouth..
What an epic drive that was - damn, I thought the train journey was dull, the M6 is enough to sedate a horse!

Well, I made it back in one piece with my new acquisition and here for your delectation it is:

Ah, but wait.
This is the reason I bought it:







that H23 pulled like a bloody train from 6 miles south of the Scottish border all the way to Bournemouth on 3/4 of a tank of petrol!
Eventually paid 250 for it - absolute bargain IMHO, I can't wait to get this engine in my car!

Good work that man! FYI, the car is an Accord to the point that you could likely sell a lot of the bits on

Does look tidy - especially for that price, and certainly does seem a waste to break it, but all in the name of a H23 so I guess that's reason enough.
I've not driven a Rover 600, though had a couple of 800's. Not a patch on a lude to drive but excellent at eating motorway miles in comfort.

Yeh.. alot of people have said it's a shame to break it, but given the choice between the 623 and the 4thGen it's no contest really.
Hopefully I'll get enough to cover the cost of the train fair & petrol when I do break it.

Anyway, I'm on the lookout for an engine lift now - if anyone knows of one going cheap..

Yeh - looking forward to getting this engine in, but not looking forward to actually doing it. I have a feeling it's going to take a veeeeeeeery long time and involve an awful lot of insanely stupid questions being asked on here!

I would think the electrical wiring will be the hardest part.

Electrical should be easy I would think, I'd just swap the entire loom between the engines when they're both out?

Are you speaking about everything to the ECU? or just to the cluster of connectors in the top right of the engine bay?
