Service Parts

Hi

I'm going to have a go at a service on my car, first time for everything!! Just wanted to make sure that I have everything covered by way of parts needed:

K&N Replacement Air Filter Panel
K&N Oil Filter
Magnetic Sump Plug
Magnecor KV85 HT Leads
NGK Iridium Spark Plugs
5L Fuchs TITAN XTR 10w-40

The Distributor Cap looks pretty new, but I have no idea when the last service was so should I be looking to replace the cap and arm as well?

If anyone has suggestions on alternative parts I would welcome the input I've just been going on what I can find in the fourm

I'd go with a HAMP oil filter rather than the K&N one, think you're just paying for the name there. Apart from that, all looks good to me

Thanks Indigolemon, I thought the same but looking on ebay the K&N one comes in cheaper

Thanks Pushki, I'm getting the brakes all changed out (as they are shot) new discs , pads, hoses and Oil - Dot4. Plus i'm paying a local garage to do the brakes as I have no idea what i'm doing and stopping is quite important so leaving to the professionals

How easy are things like fuel filter and gearbox oil to change, is it something a real novice could have a crack at?

Gearbox oil is a cinch if you have a trolley jack.

1 - Jack up and pop the drivers wheel off
2 - Lower jack till car is level

Filling is easiest from above, I used a funnel and some garden hose.

PROTIP! Check the fill bolt will unscrew before draining the oil. Or you may end up with a stuck car

I've yet to do my fuel filter, it's just in an awkward place!

Thanks Indigolemon I might give the gearbox oil a try if I get on alright with with other parts (confidence building needed on my behalf

Genuine Honda oil filters (Part no. 15400-RBA-F01) cost only £9.97
Spark plug part no. PZFR6-F11 (Probably 'P' for platinum).

The fuel filter is fairly easy to change as long as you follow the manual.
Gearbox oil is very easy to change.

So are the Platinum better than the Iridium? or is it down to what you're using the car for?

I'm not sure which ones are better, the Platinum or the Iridium.
I just happen to go for the Platinums when I bought mine. They've been fine for 3+ years so far.
