5g diet

Hey Guys,

I want to put the lude on a bit of a diet now I have my new motor in :)

It's my DD so I'd like to keep some refinement like seats and dials but want to get rid of some of the other stuff and eventually get onto the CF stuff (when I pull my finger out ) Going to start with the floor mats, spare wheel and boot lining being the really easy stuff then maybe get or make a CF sunroof plug.

After that was thinking of removing the 4ws, anyone have an idea of cost and time along with weight saved? Also, my cruise control doesn't work anymore so thinking of taking that out too...

Also, with the sound proofing taken out is the noise level in the cabin much higher?

Sounds like a good plan, although why not keep 4WS? Any particular reason you want rid of it other than weight?

If it turns out that there isn't much weight benefit in removing it then I'll keep it. Do quite like the extra manouverability

loose 4ws and get a 2ws subframe. 4ws is not all that good after a certain speed.

the oe sound deadening weighs in at between 12-14kg. it will get MUCH more noisy. (like you hear the fuel pump going  )

leave the boot liner as it weighs nothing. the boot floor carpet does weigh quite a bit though.

CC, rip it out.

there are two rubber mats under the front foot wells. these weigh loads for what they are.

i think all told i will have taken out a little over 65kg

thats including 27kg from round my middle though

If it's your DD, you might want to keep the spare wheel?

Sounds good, kudos on the 27kg! That's some good work ;)

Don't fancy the sound of MUCH more noisy so might give that a miss :?

2ws; does a 4g subframe fit the 5g? and if so can I recycle my 5stud hubs?

I got a can of tyre weld if I get a puncture :) some new cars do this in lieu of a spare wheel for the MOT now.

Spare wheel is 13kg.
Jack is 2kg
Sound deadening in boot, under rear seats, under front seats and vinyl mats in front is 12kg
Battery is 18kg
A/c around 25kg including mounts on engine.
Audio about 10kg
Lightweight wheels would offer best gains.

I think I was 12 the last time I weighed 56kg!

Have some 16" DC2 wheels to go on which believe are lighter than the 17" accord wheels I have ATM and I actually have a 'light weight' radio :) It's got an internal ipod dock rather than cd player so there's hardly anything to it.

Was reading a site last night selling CF sun roof plugs, apparently swapping the sunroof and mechanism for some CF saves 20 something kg's?

Cheers for the weight list 8-)

Any recommendations for light weight batteries?
