armour is ok but makes bone breaking easy for an attacker removes springiness from some long bones and allows them to shatter I used to like taking on armoured opponents

lewd lude lover wrote:No the Nombok is weighted for chopping peasants up (as all samuri swords should be) and is, if anything, a little blade heavy and un weildy when compared. More of a sharp hitting stick than a dynamic tool. That why so much emphasis in the jap arts is on the angle of cut.
Consider myself educated there then. I had always thought of them as being equally balanced. I presume that's the reasoning behind them having quite a considerable hilt (if that's the correct word) then?

merc, we are talking sparring in form, not friday night in bosnia  :? bone breaking with blunt steel swords is much more likely than either myself or my partner suddenly jumping on the other to deliver a 5 finger death punch. Though I do appreciate the sentiment. and i would like to know how one is administered

Given there are not many of your type of 'trained individual' about the place, generally, I'll take my chances with the rabble come social convulsion time at tesco as well  standard angles off attack from a numpty with a baseballbat is what Im interested in. If you're not on my side I'm already fuckedbeyonebelief so........

@donald: the nombok is made historically to a time of cival war when big heavy swords for chopping up your mates were in vogue. other periods they had finer blades. A 'real' one would feel very well balanced I imagine but would still not have the dexterity offered by the fighting styles of the west. They were not made for fighting other sword wielding blokes. They were as much a tool of oppression/thoughtful endevour as they ever were a weapon.

you dont even know mate. There are a few items downstairs just so they might grab for one, then its self defence. And yes, the armour answers the prepper in me

Raining all day today then. Slept in till 1pm, shagged the missis a couple of times and eaten about 4000calories in pizza, chips and beer.

Slow week made good.
