lets face it fitting aftermarket hids into a car thats not meant to have them is gonna be illegal end of discussion, your arguement is rotating on the premise that some older cars had hid's without self levelling and washers so it must be ok well your wrong.

technically you could do it if you got someone to specially make you some e marked headlamps but as far as i know there are non available for the prelude. For newer cars which had it as a factory option it would be a lot easier as the headlamps would be readily available.

Prelude + HID's = MOT PASS
Beam patterns are off on stock headlights but if you dial them down a little they are not as dazzling to on coming traffic I rarely got flashed in the years I had them in my JDM.
Retro fit projector lenses designed for HID's for best results like MORIMOTO MINI's

£30 fine for "Unauthorised lamps fitted". Offence code: 319008 and no points, it seems to be and I'm not sure if that's for the non white colour temp bulbs rather than being HID's themselves
End of the day it's up to the owner of the car if they want to run them or not and If the correct bulbs (colour temp) are used and projectors there is less chance of being noticed.
If your going to drive around in a corsa with 10k bulbs (or whatever the blue ones are) and go to cruise's/carparks late at night, your going to get pulled anyway, the HID's are just an excuse

Yep, as side2side mentioned, illegal and passing MOT are different things.mercutio wrote:lets face it fitting aftermarket hids into a car thats not meant to have them is gonna be illegal end of discussion, your arguement is rotating on the premise that some older cars had hid's without self levelling and washers so it must be ok well your wrong.
Yes all aftermarket HIDs are illegal, however if done properly you are less likely to be pulled for it, but you still won't have a leg to stand on if VOSA want to have a word.

Totally agree, Im not saying i wouldn't risk it either but people should make the decision knowing all the legal infoAmmo wrote: End of the day it's up to the owner of the car if they want to run them or not and If the correct bulbs (colour temp) are used and projectors there is less chance of being noticed.

I quite like the idea of having them on the full beams where you would turn them off for oncoming traffic.
