EJ20E, SOHC non turbo :( the new lump is an EJ20G DOHC single turbo 8-)

I've been offered a complete Legacy wagon GT (EJ20 twin turbo) for 350 as well... Suspected main bearing failure though. Still a temptation at that price though...

*edit

I'm contemplating whether I can use the Forester bottom end with the twin turbo heads, loom and ECU. The forester engine runs OBD2 and I think the mk2 Legacy GT is OBD1, I think my mk1 Legacy is also OBD1. I'm reckoning that swapping the loom and management from the borked GT wagon would be less of a headache than swapping the forester bits in. Plus I need a gearbox, prop shaft and rear diff anyway so it would be ideal having the Legacy GT as a donor. I'm totally talking myself into this

A GTB chased us up the Oberalp pass yesterday. He got much more traction out of the bends than the Lude, of course, but lost out on the hairpins. We even got away from him for a while. Naturally, I shall brag about this to my Legacy-owning son when we get home.

I picked up the new engine today:

He threw in the loom, ECU, intercooler plus a few other bits for another £40! Including buying the car I've only spent just over £300 so far

I've got two lotus special editions  that's one of them. I basically have two identical trucks, but one has a trashed auto box.

Recently I've been using the Granvia as my daily driver. Whilst it's nice to drive, it drinks fuel at a rate even I can't justify, and the cream interior is not good with the dogs. I decided I needed a more rugged and frugal daily that could be a proper workhorse.

My Bighorn is off the road currently until I fix a speedo fault and it's a bit thirsty too - the smaller engined hilux is even worse on fuel, so that's written them off as potential candidates.

The Subaru I bought the other week would've been ideal if it didn't have a bad head gasket and need surgery.

So I set off this morning with as little money as I could possibly use to obtain a working vehicle with a large boot. Of course ideally it should be Japanese, old and fairly obscure!

I came back from Hastings with this:

So far so good, I really like it :) I'm looking forward to getting the turbo swap done on the other one now
