Also did this stuff today.
Time to get a shift on with getting the ramp installed (need to get the Xantia on the road for winter, for a start!).
Did some exploratory digging in the barn a few weeks ago to find out what the floor construction is like. It's only a thin concrete screed on unmade ground (par for the course for an agricultural barn but bloody useless to me). Means I need to dig up some of the floor and make some RC pads.
This is the bare minimum required (come up with by myself a structural Eng I know through work
)

Though I'm actually going to go a bit bigger on the rear pads (650x650) to be safe. (Yes, I'm doing all that myself)
This is where the CX has been parked, so today Lisa and I set about getting it moved. This particular one has always been an unreliable bitch and today was no exception
Chucked a known good battery in it but today it wasn't playing
Anyway, got it started in the end (and now now have a new suspect as to the cause
) only to find that the alternator had packed in!
so the 3g was plugged in to provide charge while the tyres were pumped up and the hydraulics filled (it sprung a major leak last time I was manoeuvring it)

Then got it moved forward onto the ramp;

something wrong here... Why won't the ramp go up?

So, nice clear area to get started next time I have some time free and Donald is free to come down and be handy with a sledge hammer;
