The worst bit is the bollocks that it wont put your insurance up! mine went up £200 the first year after

Anyways, not to rub salt in the wound. Out of interest how long did the ticket take to arrive? IIRC if it was longer than 17 working days then you can get it thrown out.

You can also request to see the calibration certificates for the speed gun, again IIRC they have to be within 1% or 0.1% to be accurate enough for use to pass a ticket.

Also, there must be speed camera signs within 1 mile in both directions from the location of the van otherwise it can't stand, you can ask for evidence of this too ;)

It seems as though there's currently a national drive to raise revenue! :x

Myself and a couple of my friends have been done by different cameras lately.
My first offence! I was doing 42 mph in a 30. :nono:

I know, Pushki speeding? Shocking!!! :o

I was given the option to pay £60 and get 3 points on my lovely clean licence, or pay £95, keep my licence clean and attend a 'Driver Awareness Course'.

I took the course! 4 hours of classroom stuff.

Have you heard the latest from admiral? If you go on the couse they're going to treat it as getting 3 points anyway so will still screw your premium :tosser:

Same.

The country road that leads to the town where I live is a 60mph limit, about 3/4 of the way down....it changes to a 40mph, it's all surrounded by countryside... so there's no residential areas or buildings at all. It changes from 60 to 40 going over the brow of a hill, and they out a police camera van there catching people as they're still doing 50mph.

^^ This ^^

By paying the extra to attend the course, I've 'bought' my way out of a conviction. :)
It did feel like blackmail and extortion.

I've also heard that the hand-held devices have to be calibrated daily. Might be another way out?

In Scotland we dont have the option of a speed awareness course, the cops proceed straight to dry bumming you. I have been done twice in the last 3 years (not including my vehicle ASBO, yo!). Vehicle ASBO = a drokking joke.
