Hmm- dyno lottery strikes again!
Quite a variation in transmission losses it seems...
Im no expert but I always thought the power at the wheels (ATW) was the only measurable quantity on any dyno with the flywheel power derived from that?
Ive always considered Transmission losses to be a relatively constant 'percentage' of total engine power...As engine power increases then so do the losses relatively proportionally.
'True' WHP/0.85 gives a decent (if not scientific) approximation of flywheel power for your average FWD car
Example: stock uk 4g h22a2- (~183 FWhp in the book) ~ 150-155atw
Owner then goes for an ATR engine swap (A8?) retaining original box with some mild bolt-ons resulting in 220fwhp so 185-190atw
The point im poorly trying to highlight is just because you increase engine power by say 50HP you don't suddenly incur a huge transmission loss as if you'd replaced the gearbox oil with treacle.....
Does this sound about right to you guys? Apologies for thinking out loud!!

Glad you decided to get it repaired yourself bud
Do you know how much it's going to cost? And make sure you pop up some pics of the repair job afterwards

£40 to take the manifold off, reweld all 4 primaries and refit, not bad. The welding is pretty good, not perfect but for £40NafemanNathan wrote:Glad you decided to get it repaired yourself budDo you know how much it's going to cost? And make sure you pop up some pics of the repair job afterwards

That's actually quite good. I've paid £30 to have a new flange welded to the centre pipe which I'd imagine is less work or easier.A1ex wrote:£40 to take the manifold off, reweld all 4 primaries and refit, not bad.
