Ha! That was the 1.4Ghz Athlon :D At the time that was the fastest CPU money could buy, I had one. Required heatsink was mahoosive

I've never had any problems with AMD/ATi, used them for years.
Whenever I've used intel stuff, things don't work.

In case anyone else ends up in the same boat and stumbles on this thread... I ended up buying an Asus Nvidia GeForce GT 520.

Just before I clicked buy on an ATi 5450, I did some more research which turned into a few hours. They make it so complicated to see which does what!

Then there are some limitations when it comes to 3D blu ray and HD audio at the same time with most entry level ATi cards - http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthre ... st21122837

I've not gone 3D just yet but at least I'll be able to in future with the GT 520. Plus it's silent and costs about the same.

Hur hur.

Asus. Perfect 8-) If I can get hardware made by Asus I choose it over everything else  I'm very loyal. Asus and nVidia and Intel.

ATi will typically give you better video playback as they are more capeable when it comes to their filters, but for gaming Nvidia all the way imo due to superior drivers.

Like anything it depends what you are doing with your machine as to what you buy :)
(I'm an Intel fan at the moment though because best value for money is to be had on the i5 2500k, overclocks like a biatch! If AMD had something actually competitive, then I might lean towards them instead).

Yeh I've never had a problem with asus stuff but as my motherboard is asus as well I'm hoping they'll play nice.

O... I'll be using it for desktop/business and HD video/audio playback only :?
