Cheers for the replies guys, I have been away from PC for the weekend
@sam: I think I still have some pics of the car from when it was imported. In there is a pic of the speedo and miles. I did have the speedo as well but it got chucked without my permission.
No leaks or anything. totally as it came out of the car with its road grime in place so you can see nothings been cleaned off to hide damage. just had a full service before it got taken out and the hamp oil filter still looks brand new
I wanted to keep it and spent pretty money recovering it as it was the best h22 I had driven (still is) and I didnt want it to just go to someone who wouldn't understand it. I then get the red one and the white one and keeping it whole turns into a part of keeping the hobby alive. The white one is the keeper and I would just drop this engine into it and get shot of the smoking gun of the one thats in there right now but I dont have the time, experience or money to undertake the job. As it is the engine is just looking at me telling me to do something with it as I dont have the space to store it inside anymore
My thought was always that a grand spent in a garage will get you very little actual work done but if you have a really rare car then that grand converted into spare engine, gearbox, ECU, differential and all ancillary engine parts all in full working order was a great way to protect your hobby and your investment. Basically for less than half the price it costs to take a look at the one you have you can have a full replacement waiting in the wings.
I wouldn't be considering selling it if I had any other option thatrs for sure.
@bb4: grand takes the lot mate.

I can't make that decision for you but if it's as good as James says it is (and I have no reason to doubt his word on that) then it will be a cheaper option than rebuilding yours for sure.honda-hardy wrote:@PerformanceAutoworks Should I Go For This Engine As A Punt Or Stick With The Plan?
And of course it also comes with spare box and ATTS
End of the day it's your car and your money

I just dug out the importation docs file and found the last MOT that went on it just before I bought it. The engine stands on 42,062 miles.
Also have the original Japanese pics of the engine in the car with speedo pic showing 58,220 kilometers.
A little more than I remembered but I think I must have mixed the miles conversion figure up.
Happy for any inspection of paperwork and engine by interested parties.

@performanceautoworks i agree fully about the spares, and it would be a great asset for futureproofing my lude.PerformanceAutoworks wrote:I can't make that decision for you but if it's as good as James says it is (and I have no reason to doubt his word on that) then it will be a cheaper option than rebuilding yours for sure.honda-hardy wrote:@PerformanceAutoworks Should I Go For This Engine As A Punt Or Stick With The Plan?

could you quote me drive in drive out service?
the service i would like is.
my old engine and box out.
james's engine back in, but with a new cam belt, waterpump and tensioner
if i went down this route i would have to cancel this weekends refresh rebuild start and postpone it for a few weeks, so that i can get the engine down to your workshop.
this is all hypothetical at the moment james i am calling dibs but on the proviso that i can look at it asap and what rich at paw advises a rough cost is.
