I read in Evo mag that the new
Peugeot RCZ-R has 380mm front
discs! Surely that's overkill?
The next article was a 500bhp
AMG Merc which managed fine
with 'only' 360mm.
Congratulations to vtecmec for winning May/June's Lude Of The Month, with his DIY Turbo BB1 build.

A bit surprising yes, but the Pug is front wheel drive so all the weight is at the front, wherease the Merc is rear wheel drive so would have a more balanced weight distribution. Presumably the rear brakes on the Merc would be significantly bigger than the Pug. (I bet the magazine never bothered to mention the size of the rears though, right?

A lot depends on the caliper as well. A weaker caliper will need a bigger disc diameter to stop the same force.
