Yeah, its really annoying. BT push out periodic updates to the homehub, which always seems to turn the openzone back on!
I have to keep logging into my homehub to turn it off, as i notice a distinct wireless performance issue (over and above the normal) when its gone back on.

It's not quite as open as you lot are panicking about.
Yes the BT Openzone is an unsecured network, yes anyone can connect to it. BUT, it is in no way connected to your private network, your router keeps the traffic separate so no one can see your files/PCs.
Then to actually get online, they will need to go through a log on process using their BT account details. This then means EVERYTHING is tracked, so if they're using it to download illegal content, browse porn, do anything illegal, it will flag up on BT system and shut them off.
So everyone chill, open wifi is a good thing!!
